Happy REALLY long holidays!

Happy REALLY long holidays!

I came into the office today and I was surprised by how dead the CBD is. The bus stops were almost empty. Even a fair few of the cafes are closed.
I understand. It's the end of year. But half the nation being on leave until 15 January is just excessive.

I have to work. I only got the public holidays off. Me and a few of my colleagues because we're in client services. Even some of my colleagues are on leave, during an extremely busy time.

Everyone else in the business is off until at least 8 January.

This sucks. You should get paid extra for working during the shutdown period.

I worked on Labour Day last year, a public holiday. My family organized a party for my niece because she turned 40 days old. It's a tradition. They assumed I would be off, but I wasn't and I missed it. I was working from home, trying not to smell the barbecue LOL. I don't know whether to laugh or cry. My Mum told me that it's fine, I won't be missing much, but it's like missing a birthday.

It’s just made me feel forgotten.

Hey there @florencefifty

It definitely is very quiet with everyone still away or taking some time off! Does your workload stay the same during the shutdown period, or does it lighten a bit with less people around?

Don't worry, I am in the same boat as you and I completely get how it feels, but you're doing so well. Maybe we can start to think of when might be a good time for you to take some leave so that you can do something that you enjoy and have something to look forward to (while everyone else is at work perhaps!)

Sitting with you
