Something’s not right

What you doin?

What you doin?

I live with my parents and sister. My sister and I share the kitchen table with our stuff. Almost every time I get up she would ask what I was doing. I got the shits up with it and have asked a few times that she stops, it makes me feel more trapt than I already do. She kept on asking and I told her I wasnt answering anymore. Unless I am leaving the house no one needs to know what I am doing.

I just ended up getting hammered by Mum because if I had told her that I was having a shower then she wouldnt have washed her face and taken away the hot water and the very minor inconvienience of having to get someone to tell her I was in the shower this one time it happened could have been avoided.

I said if she has a particular question then she can ask it, but just general wanting to know then bugger off. Then it was I need to come up with something she can ask. I said that not my problem.

Am I in the wrong? Should I just be accountable to my sister for all my actions

No you shouldn’t have to be @ClockFace you are an adult and you can do what you want.

I am in a very similar position, in that my 7 yr old daughter and I (I’m 40), live with my mum. Actually I don’t like to word it like that, that we live with her or she lives with us. We all just live together. We all moved in together when my marriage ended. I struggled to get my own rental and it saves us all money. But it certainly has its struggles.

My mum always likes to know where I am going. Who I’m going with. Sometimes that’s a struggle cause I don’t always tell her everything about myself, especially about my mental health. Which leads me to being dishonest a lot. I think sometimes if I am quiet for too long, laying in bed, sitting outside, my mum comes worrying because she is aware of my mental health struggles.

I feel trapped like you do.

I don’t think we need to tell them everything. But I think we need to respect each other, and if that means that we need to tell them that we won’t be home for dinner, or we will be home late, then that is fine.

so yep, I understand your struggles! And no they don’t need to know everything

That sounds annoying @ClockFace . I’d walk off. As @Bow said, you’re an adult.
