Aboard the BlueTrane

Aboard the BlueTrane

Hey, it's been a while. I've been going through a tough time and feeling unwell. Like everyone, I have my good days and bad days. Right now, things are a bit rough. However, my therapist has taught me some useful techniques to handle it, and regularly seeing the exercise specialist has improved my overall health. The exercise specialist understands my situation and knows I'm not the typical "gym enthusiast." I have both good and bad days, but I'm working on getting stronger and healthier overall.

Lately, I've been having thoughts that lead to me swearing and clenching my teeth. What used to be just quiet swearing has turned into outbursts that my housemate can hear from his room. He's been asking me if I'm okay. I worry that I might come across like the homeless people I used to see in the city. But that is mostly due to my own internalise prejudices about my condition. Even though I realize what's happening afterwards, these sudden outbursts still bother me. I've talked to my psychiatrist about it, and we're working together to find ways to deal with it and keep it from getting worse.

Hi @BlueTrane

Sounds like you've got some good support around you. Your worries are valid and normal, without knowing your diagnosis, there is still our own stigma attached to a diagnosis and symptoms. Are you getting benefit from strategies from your therapist?

Yes, I find that the ACT techniques help. Though I need to go over them regularly to remember what to do.

That's great @BlueTrane I too need to go over and over things to learn them, even then I find it hard to recall.

Also a handy forum tip is...If you type @function you will see a drop down box and it will have names of relevant contributors to tag. Select the contributor to tag them and they

will receive a notification.

@Blackbird11

Doctors and nurses keep saying that I've got an exceptional level of insight and self-awareness when it comes to my schizoaffective disorder. I guess they're used to dealing with patients who are often in the midst of psychosis or mania, not those who are relatively stable. Anyway, I appreciate having this insight, but it can also be a mixed blessing because at times, it makes me feel a bit too self-absorbed and lost in my own thoughts.

I can relate @BlueTrane

I am in my head a lot and I tend to miss things said or I pick up late in conversation
