Something’s not right

U OK?

U OK?

This is a question I am asked pretty frequently by my sister and My Dad where the answer doesnt matter at all. So, whats the point? It irritates me so much. If you are going to ask if someone is ok, desire the real response and be prepared to listen and engage in the response. If you are just asking to tick some box off to say that you have asked me if Im ok, that you have checked in on people, dont. Dont be disingenuous. When I ask someone if they are ok, I am interested in the response, I want to know. But they dont and I dont see the point if they dont want to know.

Dad asked me a moment ago if I was ok and I just said yeah. I generally just say yeah, thats what they want to hear and its easier than telling them whats wrong and Dad basically walking away straight afterwards and my sister ignoring me or telling me how much worse she has it. After he asked me etc. I asked how he was and he said ok and I sorta just blerted about how we all lie when we're asked and he just yeah. All I could think is what the point. Really y bother with any of it, this pretend caring, its cruel. If you ask, want to know or dont ask.

Can understand @ClockFace

If someone asks me if I'm ok, I just say yeah too. Almost every conversation starts this way. They don't really want to know and even if I say no, I don't think they would know how to respond to me.
