Thanks everyone @Owlunar @Former-Member @NatureLover @Shaz51 @outlander @Teej
First got really sick 9 years ago after workplace incident, although probably could have been diagnosed with Depression in my teens.
Having to deal with WorkCover and Centrelink this whole time, certainly added alot of stress to my already fragile state.
I only applied for the Disability Pension in March of this year, after a hospital stay last year, when the hospital Psychiatrist recommended I apply. So I did. Only found out I was approved yesterday.
It is a huge relief. Financially, yes, it will help alot. Emotionally, a huge weight has been lifted off my shoulders.
No it's not nice to be labelled as Disabled. But that label does mean I don't have to struggle so much on my own anymore.
Other good news is that the past 10 to 12 weeks, WorkCover has been paying cleaners to come and clean my house every fortnight. What a difference they have made. Where I used to live in a pig sty, I now live in a dust free, less cluttered (but not all put away yet) house. Last year was terrible. I had a mouse infestation I couldn't get in control of no matter what I did. And it was during a tough Depressive episode. So it was super hard. But now no mice, no dust, no dirty kitchen. Just all nice and clean.
WorkCover are currently assessing to see if they will also pay for regular gardening services for E. At the moment I have been paying a gardener for years. But there are times I can't afford it, so my garden gets pretty overgrown and messy. So fingers crossed, that will also work out for me.
Thanks again for the good wishes.
