Something’s not right

Almost no sleep again

Almost no sleep again

About 2 weeks ago my local dr doubled my dose of anti depressants. Few days ago I started to feel the benefits including only waking couple times a night. Still have panic attacks when too far away from home but not as intense as have been. Was starting to feel bit happy.

couple days ago met a friend and during our chat she asked if I was ok to tell her about my triggers. Thought I’d be ok so started talking. Starting to talk about one trigger I started to relive the event in my mind. I just stopped, managed to explain little bit and went home.

both nights since then I’m struggling to sleep at night due to constantly waking. Feeling exhausted during the day but on too high alert to sleep. Last night the nightmares started again. This morning feel like I want to cry but not at same time don’t feel can cry, too tired

Re: Almost no sleep again

good morning @Former-Member

I am sorry to hear of this recent round of trials you're experiencing.

I have been and still am going through very similar circumstance. I don't have any magic or mantra to ease your situation, sorry. Except to say I empathise.

In my experience, progress and improvement comes in waves. The two steps forward, one step back nature of managing mental health can be maddening in itself...it's just the way it goes, I'm afraid.

If you don't mind, I would like to offer this: you are tired. So allow yourself to rest and sleep whenever you're able. Put somethings in your environment that bring your alert levels down...some background noise, maybe. Or complete quiet. A bunch of jonquils. The smell of toast. Whatever does it for you ... 🙏

warm thoughts your way. Take care.

Hi @Former-Member

I'm glad to hear that the increase in meds has helped a little.

Perhaps talking to your friend has stirred up a few things in your brain. Instead of it sitting at the back, it has now come to the forefront.

Like @Kyle1 said, it is really a few steps forward and one step back.

I hope your nightmares start to decrease and that you can get some more sleep. It is really hard when we want to cry but nothing comes out.

I hope you find some peace in the coming days.

Thanks @Kyle1 @Snowie
current plans for today, one car load of items to storage shed in preparation for moving then coming home and lighting my English Pear and Fressia candle. Will enjoy the smell as work on last of my new drapes prior to having a couch, cat, dvd arvo

front yard needs a mow which will wait for another day

Well done @Former-Member for fitting so much into the day. It really helps sometimes to stay busy, but glad your have some downtime in there too.

I hope your day goes well.

Re: Almost no sleep again

I am sorry that your sleep is being so badly affected as it has such an impact on getting through the day. I live with CPTSD and sleep was a big issue for me, no matter the pharmaceutical options being prescribed, none properly resolved the issue. They either didn't affect my sleep at all or they knocked me out and I felt groggy the next day.

I have been off all pharmaceutical medication for about four months now as I transitioned to cannabis therapy.

Since settling my dosages of CBD & THC I have had 6-9hrs of uninterrupted sleep nearly every night.

This may be something you could look into?

Hey there @Boppa

Just wanted to pop my head in to let you know, unfortunately SANE isn't a medical service and we aren't allowed to provide medical advice. We can mention medications in general but not specific names and dosages. So I've just done a bit of an edit to take that part out of your post, no dramas though, it's hard working out the guidelines when you're new. And thank you for your kind advice towards others!
