Something’s not right

An open description of my weekend… but not TOO open.

An open description of my weekend… but not TOO open.

These last three days have been eventful to say the least.

On Saturday, my niece turned one. We went out there for her birthday party. It was a lot of fun, although trying to take organised photos with two babies is extremely difficult and tiring. I got a big headache by the end, but it was brilliant. Weekends are usually for family, especially Saturday.

On Sunday, I was hanging out in my room and my brother said “why don’t you go outside?” I went outside. I went to the city to get new ink cartridges. My brother saw that I was in the city, because he saw my location when I messaged him, and he said “what are you doing in the city? Are you drinking?”

This is one of the things I hate. I don’t think it’s fair that because you have had trouble with alcohol in the past, people expect you to be 100% free from alcohol moving forward.

People talk about how many years sober they are. Drinking in moderation is a failure for them. It’s a failure for an alcoholic, but not for everyone else.

Was I drinking? Hell yes, I was drinking. It was delicious. I didn’t say that. I had a small amount, but I had to hide it, because I need to be at zero. I definitely see the appeal of being sober, but I just don’t think it’s fair to expect that. I got home and my Mum said “if you’re going somewhere, just say. If you’re going to the city, let us know, and then have fun, just don’t drink.”

I did end up getting ink, but very sadly, I lost it on the way home. It was way too expensive as well, three times as much as it would have been if I just bought it online. I’m kicking myself, but I’m hoping they give me a replacement as a goodwill gesture, considering I have the receipt.

On the way home as well, I borrowed a book, the first I have in months. I borrowed The Spare Room by Helen Garner. I really enjoyed it the last time I read it, and it’s only four hours long. Fun size LOL.

Today was eventful too, but for a reason that I am not comfortable talking about online. I was half-way through writing and thought “NAHH, maybe not”.

I wonder if a moderator can answer this question, how do you know what you should talk about online and what you shouldn’t?

I know this forum is anonymous, but there is still the risk that someone can see your posts, either through notifications or open pages when you’re using your device to do something else.

I don’t want to discourage anyone from writing in, but it’s definitely something to at least open the discussion to.

There is another topic which I didn’t even discuss here. My psychologist said she’s going away soon, but I’m not sure for how long…

Hey @florencefifty - best way would be to look through the Guidelines to determine if you can post something or not. If you're still unsure, feel free to email us, team@saneforum.org if you'd like further insight about what you can post 😊

Hi @florencefifty

It certainly has been an eventful time for you. Sounds like you have had a lot going on.

I hope you are looking after yourself amongst everything.

It is hard to sometimes know what we can and can't write on here. I made an opps the other day, but the moderators are normally on to it fairly quickly. Perhaps reading the guidelines is the best thing to do.

Take care.
