Antidepressant Side Effects

Antidepressant Side Effects

Has anyone on here had any experience with an antidepressant that really doesn't agree with them? I've been taking a new one for a month and a half now and it's made my mental health worse and worse the more I take it. I've been in a crisis stage of my depression and anxiety for about a week now but I'm slowly finding help. The stuff feels like it's poisoned my mind. I've never felt so unstable, depressed, anxious and suicidal at times in my life. I'm safe with family but the emotional pain it's caused has been unbearable at times. This is the third different type of antidepressant I've tried. Feeling lost and like nothing will ever bring me joy in life again.

Welcome, @tristan21 , so sorry to hear how you're feeling 😞

Unfortunately it takes some people quite a while to find a medication that suits them. Can you go back to whoever prescribed it and tell them how it's making you feel?

An important forum tip is if you type @ and then click on a name in the drop-down box, that person will get a notification and won't miss your reply.

Hey @NatureLover,

Thanks for reaching out. I’ve been back to my gp to chat about it a couple of times but we decided to push through and see if things would improve. Unfortunately it’s taking a while for me to get into see a psychiatrist to know what the next step should be. I’ve been referred to inpatient clinics but really don’t like the thought of being in there.

@tristan21 Sorry to hear about the wait to see the psychiatrist. Do you have an appt lined up?

@NatureLover

Yeah I do, it’s a week on Friday. I had an inpatient stay lined up for this morning but I cancelled it. The thought of being stuck in there for more than a week made me more anxious than anything. I feel guilty for canceling but didn’t think I could face it and I’m feeling a little better since I’ve lowered the dose of the anti depressants I was taking. I’ve got an appointment with my psychologist tomorrow which I’m looking forward to. Feel like I’m seeing a bit of light at the end of the tunnel for once.

@tristan21 So pleased you can see some light at the end of the tunnel. Hope the appt with your psychologist goes well today. Also that your first appt with the new psychiatrist goes well in a week's time 🤞
