Something’s not right

More NDIS funding issues.

More NDIS funding issues.

Yes, another one. If anyone has any advice or support it would be appreciated.

My neighbour was on my doorstep earlier today and his plan has expired, they didn't roll it over and now it's five weeks into a review and counting.

I mean I can pick up his medication for him when I'm out with my support worker but there's a limit to what I can do and I'm not qualified. He's blind as well so it's a total mess for him that he's just been left like this. Council services won't pick up the slack, many of the State ones were discontinued when the NDIS came in but not adequately replaced. It's a mess.

I'm going to contact MPs tomorrow when I've calmed down, but this guy was supposed to be moving into supported accommodation share housing and instead they've left him high and dry. I'm furious.

@Janeh that does indeed sound very frustrating. I think I would be pretty angry too - it sounds like you really care about your neighbour, and hate to see him being left high and dry like that. He's lucky to have someone like you looking out for him. Perhaps you could also have a chat with him and see what his most pressing/urgent needs are, and do what you can to help with those. I hope he gets the support he needs soon 🤞

Hi @Jynx yeah it's awful. He's been knocking on a few neighbours' doors, explaining a bit about his situation which is humiliating for him. We're mostly older people here and many of us are on disability ourselves. He's the third one in as many months who's had serious issues. It would be nice if someone with some actual influence could bring a bit of humanity to the implementation of these programs rather than having the elderly and disabled begging from people who don't have the qualifications or resources to do much.

Mm @Janeh it's really rough to have so few people advocating for change. I think it's really awesome that you are doing so though, and I hope that someone does start to listen, for his sake and for all who are finding themselves up the crappy creek without a paddle.
