Baby Hold - Please help

Baby Hold - Please help

I understand that my previous post was removed due to having an identifying picture. So I have included a picture that doesn't identify anybody in this one.

I have OCD and it has been out of control of late. I held a baby in the manner shown in the picture, that is, between the baby's legs. I then became overly concerned that this is a crime. I spoke with the mum she was NOT concerned and said she uses the hold. Do other people use this hold? What are your thoughts?

Re: Baby Hold - Please help

Hi @Lotusgirl. There is absolutely nothing wrong in the way you held the baby. The baby is secure, he/she is not distressed. You are supporting the head, although because he/she is not a tiny, newborn there is no immediate danger of the head suddenly titling backwards.

Hi @Lotusgirl

definitely no problem holding bub like that. It was the best way to hold my lil girl when she was little because she had a lot of tummy pains at the time. holding her like that was good because my arm put a little bit of pressure on her tummy. She was always happier to be held like that. and being able to switch positions is always good when you need to hold them for a long time!

Re: Baby Hold - Please help

@Lotusgirl. It's a perfectly safe way to hold a baby. And from my experiences with my son and niece and friends babies - it's also a comforting hold for the child as well.

Re: Baby Hold - Please help

Hi @Lotusgirl i had to hold my son this way a lot as it helped him with tummy troubles. It was the only calming position for him sometimes. I was shown it by a friends mum who had lots of experiences with babies. Best of luck.

Re: Baby Hold - Please help

@Lotusgirl agree with everyone above. I had twins and that was the only safe way I could hold both at once (one on each arm). It's all good

Hello @Lotusgirl

It's a perfectly safe way to hold a baby, I have been doing childcare for 30 years and I did this all the time , and even the baby has fallen asleep like this , i used one hand like this while getting afternoon tea for the other children xx
