Re: ptsd

Hi @moira welcome to the Forums and thanks for sharing. Sorry to hear you are having a rough day and having trouble leaving the house. Hopefully you find the Forums a safe and welcoming place to come and hang out when you're feeling overwhelmed. Did something happen earlier to make you feel this way today? Look forward to hearing more from you.

Re: ptsd

@moira. I'm sorry that your gp hasn't suggested any help for you.
Make an appointment to see him/her and ask for a Nental Health Plan to be done. It's a series of questions where you tick the form. Be as honest as you can. Then ask your gp to refer you to a psychologist that specialises in trauma or ptsd.
There is life after violence. Medication may be needed. But definitely talking to a therapist who deals with trauma - will make a huge difference in your quality of life

Re: ptsd

Hi @moira

welcome to the forums. I'm glad you posted.. its hard to make the first post i think. Its disappointing to here that you've not been given or offered any sort of support with the depression over such a long time. i have ptsd too so i can relate somewhat. I wonder if it would be worth going ot a new gp, or phoning somewhere like sane or beyond blue for some advice on how to get soem more support/help. I know for me, working with a psychologist has made a difference, Being here, and seeing that others have made it through similar things, that other people think similarly or have exeprienced similar things has often helped me too. I have occasionally felt almost 'normal' haha!

hope that it helps being here,

LJ

Re: ptsd

@moira. YOU deserve to be healthy. YOU deserve to be helped.
I know it's hard sometimes to ask for help from your gp - but that is what they are there for. If you find it hard to talk to your gp - write down in bullet form what you want & give this to the gp.
If the gp is not helpful - then see another gp.
Wishing you all the best
