PTSD intenser ad we get older

PTSD intenser ad we get older

Hi All

Introducing myself as a 53 year old mother of 3 adult sons. I am a survivor of various traumatic episodes and am triggered by negative events into anxiety and insomnia and fear.

My frustration is I consider myself to be reasonably intelligent and have read many self help books, meditated and received counselling but I still feel lost and when I’m triggered sometimes it takes me months to really recover.

Appreciate knowing if others feel the same….thanks

Hi @Shellby1970 ,

Well done for reaching out!

As I learnt early, those with higher intellect are not immune to mental health struggles. For a long time, I couldn't understand why I was so capable and well-read yet on many occasions, I couldn't even get out of bed.

I struggled with these those for many years.

Over time, I learnt to accept my condition and accept help.

Have you heard of SANE's Drop-In service or SANE's Guided Service?

You may be interest:

All the best.

You are definitely NOT alone.

Thankyou Tyme ☺️

It’s rather embarrassing feeling like you are losing your grip on the basics …. Knowing I need to be grateful to be alive and have a roof over my head but still succumbing to this sickening despair!

I will definitely have a look at both of your suggestions…. Thanks again
