Comfort

Comfort

I've recently moved out of my car and into a lovely 3 bedroom home in the Huon Valley. Its a rural setting, roses, completely furnished. I am not without my blessings. (Although the rent is mental!)

Simultaneously, and increasingly, I have been experiencing a lot of crippling grief and loneliness.

And yet I have had these 'encounters'... Last night was the second time.

There is, shall we say a "presence" which comes to my room. Rubs my feet a while then my back. Then lays down behind me and hugs me.

Ordinarily I would be spooked out of my skin! Yet I feel great comfort instead...

I have asked my landlord who lives on the neighbouring farm, if anyone had died in this house. She says no, but that she and her children have experienced a "presence," in her house. She tells the children not to worry, that it's just their 'comforter'...

Re: Comfort

That's really odd, @Kyle1. I am a thorough believer in the paranormal, but we are always sceptical if we haven't experienced it ourselves. I look into the occasional YouTube videos from time to time, and it is always interesting to hear more learned and experienced folks discussing certain aspects I have personally experienced. It's a strange world.

When I say that I am a thorough believer, I mean that I know what I have experienced, and when learned, specialised independents are saying the same thing, it is confirming. I know certain things that others express disbelief about are true, so I'm always hesitant to discount anything in this odd space we inhabit. It always remains open for consideration.

I'm the same, @Historylover

Agnostic and sceptical - until it happens to me. Until the existential uncertainty becomes my personal experience...

Alas, it happens!

Re: Comfort

Also worthy of consideration, @Kyle1, is the possibility that, as you say that you are experiencing a lot of trauma at the moment, it could be that your mind is taking you to a place of comfort?

Occasionally, when I am deeply traumatized, my mind throws up pleasant recollections, and for a while I am consoled by those memories. They provide me with comfort for a while.

Just food for further thought.

Re: Comfort

@Historylover yes, I have entertained that rationale... Dreaming? Phantasmagoria? Wish fulfilment?

I can't get past the fact that I awake as the encounter begins, and then am soothed back to sleep. The only thing more I can do to assure its a tangible phenomenon is turn over and look at what ever is there... So far I haven't done that. I've been too at rest with 'the presence'...
