Dealing with my partner with ocd psychosis following

Dealing with my partner with ocd psychosis following

I’ve been in this dilemma for 15 months. He went through rehab for alcohol and is sober now. Smokes cigarettes and weed but every day will shower for hours . Convinced he has a rare condition with his hair and tries to wind it out of his head daily . He also takes bits of the scabs and collects them to take somewhere to show people what’s coming out of his head. It’s infected, big bald spots extends to eyebrows beard and moustache. Convinced it affects his back also . Has seen medical professionals none understand his problem. He’s agitated, lost weight and will tell all about his problem . He looks like a homeless person. Many illogical statements and anger at myself for suggoany different course of action. Will sit on the floor of the shower creating new infection daily . I left once but he doesn’t care for himself ( clean food bills), foolishly I came back three months ago and it’s horror . Eggshells. I’ve found somewhere to move to close by as I’m afraid he will die if he is abandoned . His family are in Melbourne and want him committed but not prepared to do anything . He sees a psychologist but uses this time to amp up how terrible his condition is. I have many supports and am resourceful and just want to see him survive. After this length of time I know he probably won’t ever develop insight to get over this . .the relationship is dead but I’m struggling to leave a human like this, I did this once but am stuck trying to make sure he stays in his job and has food etc. I’m sure there’s others out there trying to make sense or how to navigate, each day is scary where I am accused of all sorts of things. Many statements that don’t happen. I feel as though I’m strong but I’m losing my mind . @ocdpsychosis

Hey @Funnygirl ,

Welcome to the forums and thank you for sharing your story.

It sure sounds like your partner needs support right now. Unfortunately, it's not as simple as "if you are sick get help' because it is clear he does not see it as a mental health condition.

I'm not sure what can be done as he does not seem like he is dangerous. Are you able to contact your local area mental health team to ask for some advice? Also, does the psychologist ever discuss his care needs with you?

It is understandable why you may be concerned.

Hope to hear from others on the forum who can shed light on this situation.
