I am in a relationship with a NPD partner and am suffering from PTSD. Because I am not working and am finding it hard to even contemplate looking for a job I have no access to a psychiatrist. My partner also controls our money and has the car so I am isolated from any help. I spend my days alone in my home. He is financially and emotionally abusive and takes the kids out but leaves me home, and I wouldn’t want to go out with him anyway. He has cheated on me multiple times over the 30 years we have been together and I believe it is happening again! He lies about our finances being paid so I have no control over any aspect of my life! He controls our email accounts and withholds the money he makes so I cannot do anything. He says he doesn’t trust me with our money. I feel like a prisoner. Is anyone else experiencing this?

Hey @FightOrFlight this sounds like a really awful situation to be in and I want to acknowledge the strength it takes to say these things openly and reach out for support. You don't deserve to be treated this way. I would encourage you to call 1800 RESPECT

You do not have to go through this alone.

Please take care,

Paperdaisy

Welcome, @FightOrFlight , I'm very sorry to hear of your abusive situation 😞

I was wondering if you could call the free counsellors at SANE, to start to get some help. 1800-187-263. They also do Chat (text service).

Also, if you click on "get support" at the top of the page here on the forums, there are a range of options you could look at.

I really hope you can start to get some support. 1800 RESPECT is a great idea, as @Paperdaisy said.

An important forum tip is if you type @ and then click on a name in the drop-down box, that person will get a notification and won't miss your reply.

I hope you find the forums supportive...
