Something’s not right

I have nowhere to go

I have nowhere to go

From today I will be homeless for the foreseeable future. The youth crime crisis is so bad in Queensland that I've had to leave my city for my own personal safety. Murders, violent attacks and even shootings are happening almost every day and many parts have gone from friendly suburbs to ghettos in a matter of months, all at the hands of literal children. I'm sitting in the airport as I write this, my flight to Hobart is in a few hours. After that I have nowhere to go. It has gotten to the point where being on the streets in Hobart is safer than being in my own home. Please, if anyone can help it would be greatly appreciated.

Hi @Pepsi_Foxxo . Welcome to the forums, and really sorry to hear about your situation.😥

I don't know much about this sort of stuff, but I just found this group, who apparently deal with homelessness in Hobart:

https://colony47.com.au/contact/

You can also call them on 1800 265 669, although I'm afraid it looks as if their only active during business hours on weekdays.

I wish I could be of more help.😟

Welcome...so sorry to hear of your situation, @Pepsi_Foxxo 😞

@chibam has given a great suggestion. Would you be able to afford a motel till you can ring this group on Monday?

To let people know you've replied to them, you can tag them with @ so they don't miss your reply.

Hi @Pepsi_Foxxo just wanted to stop by and check in with you, see where you're at right now. Did you find a place to stay when you got to Hobart?

Hi @Pepsi_Foxxo

I just wanted to reach out to welcome you to the forums - it’s great to have you here 💜

Oh Pepsi-Foxxo! What you’ve described sounds terrifying and absolutely horrific and I’m just so sorry to hear that you’ve had to leave your city for your own personal safety 💜

Unfortunately, I’m not familiar with the support services that are available in Tasmania (I really wish that I was so that I could help you 💜) and so I just did a quick google search to see if there are any organisations that may be able to help you and I found an organisation called Housing Connect 💜

I wasn’t too sure if you have access to the internet and so I’ve just copied and pasted the information that I found about this particular service below:

Housing Connect is the one-stop shop for all your housing and support needs and provides one assessment for everything from emergency accommodation to a long-term home.

Housing Connect can help you with:

  • applying for social housing
  • support and advice with your private rental, including bond and rent arrears
  • finding a bed for the night
  • support and advice on how to stay in your home
  • seeking assistance following family violence
  • information and advice on your housing options.

As such, you can contact them 24 hours a day, 7 days a week on: 1800 800 588 💜

I’ve also shared the link to their website, just in case you would like to explore some of their services further:

https://www.homestasmania.com.au/housing-and-homelessness/housing-connect

Also, just while I remember, one of the things that really helped me when I was new to the forums and still finding my way around, was that if you would like to chat with another forum member, or reply to one of their posts, place @ in front of their username just like I did at the start of my post to you i.e. @Pepsi_Foxxo that way, they will receive a message that you have contacted them 😊

I really hope that this helps you a little bit and please remember that you’re always welcome to reach out to us here whenever you need to 😊

Take kind and gentle care of yourself,

ShiningStar 💜
