Re: Worried about granddaughter
Hi @Bridgetjones
Your grandbaby is very lucky to have you looking out for her, as is your daughter (though she may not appreciate it). If you have reason to think that she's being hurt you will need to get some extra help for them. I think each state has their own numbers... but i'm sure you can google the appropriate number. Most of the time serivces really want to look at how to help kids stay with their parents... but there will be support and eyes to help make sure g'daugther is safe.
I'm sorry for being blunt and straight to the 'call someone' but...
How are you coping yourself with it all? is there anyone that you can talk to just for your own help and sanity as well?

Does your gdaughter go tp day care ? If she does it might be worth talking to the child care people about your concerns. I have some very young people in my life although not related, that I need to keep a close eye on. These have recently started at school with one still going to childcare. I would most certainly be speaking to their school /childcare if I ever noticed the type of bruises you're talking about. Far better to be safe than sorry. 🎶💕

I wonder if @moderators @luna @cherryblossom may have some ideas about any organisations that you can talk to (withiut police or child services getting involved - until there is certainty) - an organisation that will take your calk anonymously & give you advice on what to look out for & where to go to from here.
I think you really need professional advice with regards to abuse if your granddaughter.
However, keep posting here so that we can offer you emotional support.
Am sending you support and hugs♥♥

Hi @Bridgetjones,
I can appreciate why you are concerned about your granddaughter, having seen the large bruise on her leg. You sound unsure as to whether you can trust your daughter's explanation that it was caused by a fall, that is really tricky.
In cases where there is risk of harm to a child, like @Former-Member and @utopia I would recommend seeking professional advice. I'm not sure what state you are in, but here in Victoria, as well as Child Protection services there are also Child and Family Information, Referral and Support Teams (Child FIRST), which may be a good first point of contact. Here is a guide to reporting.
I'm glad you've come to the Forums to talk about this, anyone in your position would need support. How are you taking care of yourself?
Your granddaughter is lucky to have you looking out for her ![]()
