PTSD Advice

PTSD Advice

Happy Sunday morning everyone,

I'm looking for any advice for PTSD. I've always suffered with depression/anxiety in times of my life. I'm on medication at night as I suffer insomnia, have been off medication for a year as I didn't feel it was working. I've suffered trauma last year almost loosing my daughter with a long recovery and my elderly mother who's very sick and suffering. I had a meltdown last week and need proper care. Lifeline and Beyond Blue phone consults helped calm me down.

I'm seeing my GP at 11.00am today having known him for 20 years. I will get a mental health plan and want to go back on medication.

Any advice on what's helped others on here would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you 🙂

Hi @Jennifer3 what you are doing is a great first step! Getting a mental health care plan and booking in to see a psychologist will be important in your recovery. They will then be able to provide you with support. The counsellors at the SANE help centre are great also

hey @Jennifer3 ❤️ I'm TuxedoCat, one of the peer workers here. It's lovely to e-meet you. I hope we can find you some ideas!

It sounds very understandable that you're having a difficult time at the moment. It sound like it has been a really big time. The fact that you picked up the phone is a real testament to you.

I know for me, when I'm feeling a a trigger come up, I find the following things really useful. Maybe you'll find them useful too

Not sure if these sounds helpful or if you have other ideas?

Take care,

TuxedoCat
