How to be brave

How to be brave

Hi all I am wondering if anyone has any advice on how to stand up to an abuser? My flatmate has abused, bullied and threatened me to the point I cannot go home. My realtor said to record the abuse but I’m so traumatised I can’t even drive down the street. Sorry to put a downer on this time of year but I don’t know what else to do.

There's no such thing as putting a downer on this time of year, @Sirine. A lot of us are on our own downer. Your situation sounds intolerable. I don't have any advice; you'll have to work your way through it. Just stay strong so that you can think clearly.

@Sirine You are doing it. Write, ring, knock , keep asking questions . Work the problem like a full time job. Lots of folks are looking for someone to help, finding each other, takes a little time , help comes when you least expect. I think you have done the hardest bit, faced the fact that there is a problem, and it wont just go away. Keep casting your line and hang on tight. Lots of folks on this site have or are treading similar waters to you.

They care and will find you. My thoughts are with you. tonys mb1

Re: How to be brave

@Sirine I am so sorry to hear your awful situation 😞

I have 3 ideas: One is to make an appointment with your local free legal advice group. Two is to make an appointment for advice with your local housing advocacy group. And three is to look for other accommodation urgently.

You need some support and help in this situation, which is why my suggestions for help.

Oh, and fourthly: if you have a psychologist or counsellor, to seek their advice too.

Good luck...

Re: How to be brave

@NatureLover @Thanks hun. I am staying with a friend at the moment and have contacted the agent in regards to her behaviour. Unfortunately not much can be done until next week. I don’t want to be the one to move as I have all the furniture and I borrowed money to move to this place. She owns very little and it would make sense then that she goes.
She is so narcissistic mean and unstable. I have not blocked her as yet and the bs she texts me is so ridiculous it’s laughable.

Now that I have my meds again, as I left in a hurry, I am starting to settle and also the support I am getting from my friend.
Im anxious about returning to the house but have been told to record her behaviour and send it to the agent.

thanks for your support too xxx
