Worthless

Worthless

As a worthless man I've learnt over the last decade or more that there is absolutely no where to turn to .

I've tried every professional Avenue available and unfortunately it is of no help . I have also learnt that as a worthless man that only connections would help..I suspect this is why men don't reach out , once there is no one who cares it becomes a matter of sheer hopelessness.

Re: Worthless

Hi @Steven78 It sounds like you're having a really difficult time right now. I'm sorry to hear that you've found it difficult to find meaningful support.

Do you have any thing that you find helps lift your mood at times like this?

Remember we're here for you.

Re: Worthless

Hello @Steven78. I am just adding a few lines to tell you that the notion of being 'a worthless man' is nonsense. I expect that it was instilled in you by others who sought to ensure it became part of your own self-appraisal.

Figure out what you want from life and go for it. Where there are obstacles, go around them. Life is not easy and is a constant challenge for some of us—including me. I fight to survive and achieve something every day despite the impossibilities of my life. I'm doing this for me, because I long ago figured out that I was not only not 'worthless', but I also had worth, potential and a goodness of heart that is absent in those who have sought to oppress me.

For me, I have stopped trying to find help; I only find those who help themselves at my expense. I'm the only one who has my best interest at heart, and here is the only place many of us have found solace. I'm sure life wasn't meant to be this difficult, but we have to deal with it all regardless.

Unfortunately there is nothing.

Re: Worthless

Thanks. I've had my life discounted like that many times and you obviously don't understand the impact of disconnection to human beings. I'm very much a worthless man unto others , if I wasn't I'd have someone to talk to and be around !!

Re: Worthless

@Steven78, I have been suicidal for approaching 3 years. I deal with it every day. I have no-one in my life. I have no family—everyone just looks after him- or herself; I have no relatives—that is a dog-eat-dog world; I have no friends—never have had. I have so much to offer, so much in my favour—now that I no longer allow others to assess my worth—but I have never been able to find where I belong. Never. Family can't be relied on for anything, and friends have just used and abused me. I am a total loner and it's not by choice. It's just the best life I can provide myself. I just wait to see what will go wrong next. I don't know what to do about my life either. I'm just trying to make the most of it, get the most value of the time I have on this planet.

Re: Worthless

Hi @Historylover,

I'm sad to read that life has been like this for you. It's sounds like things have been really challenging for you over the years. I really hope you feel like you have friends on the forums and that we really care about you because we do.

We are really lucky to have such a kind, smart and caring member such as yourself. Even through your own struggles you still reach out and support those in our community. That's an amazing quality to have!

Big hugs,

FloatingFeather

Re: Worthless

Sheer hell @FloatingFeather. I limp on, day-by-day. I decided yesterday that I am now officially a recluse. There is no point in trying to fit in in the real world anymore, and no point looking at buying a unit; just too many factors against. So, I will just have to watch affordable dwellings get out of my reach, because that is what holds up the economy for those who get ahead by re-mortgaging their over-valued homes so that they can appear to have money to burn.

Anyway, life goes on. I hope you're doing well. Sending best wishes.

Re: Worthless

Hey, I am not going to fill you with nonsense platitudes that "you are not worthless". It sounds like bullshit when you're really down. Tell me a little more about yourself. Where are you? What are the services like where you are? How old are you? All these things matter. I am 56 and I was diagnosed with major depressive disorder 35 years ago. When I lived in regional Queensland, I suffered for many years needlessly because there were no services, and the doctors and psychiatrists were useless. I got far better help after I moved to Melbourne. I am back on the Sunshine Coast now (Qld.) and I am not sure things have really picked up much here.....but there are some good ones out there. Tell me more so I can give you tell you more about my experiences. I've been right down there....for months....but did recover eventually.
