Lying about not knowing. Why?
Can anyone help me understand what it means? when you see a friend walking with someone else and you run into them and the person asks your friend do you know her but the friend quietly answers no.

Hi there @Butternut, welcome to the forums ❤️ I'm one of the peer workers here. It's lovely to e-meet you!
This sounds like it's been a confusing and uncomfortable situation for you. I can't say for sure why this happened, but I do know that it's a bit uncomfortable for you.
I don't think we can ever fully understand other peoples actions, but we can focus on what we think and how we respond.
Do you think you would talk with your friend about this and ask why?

Hey @Butternut.
If my friend told someone they were with that they were not my friend or that they did not know me I would think that they were a dishonest person and I would no longer feel like I could trust them. Nor would I feel like I would want to be their friend any more. I could not trust them and the hurt would be to much.
I could not be friend with someone who had so little regard for my feelings.
I would definitely confront them to find out why. Just incase of the slight chance of a misunderstanding or some other unforeseen situation.

Thankyou i agree with you and @Former-Member i need to be brave and ask why next time i see this friend. This is someone i run into regularly while out walking and weve had many indepth chats over time. So i was completely taken aback when this was said. Its left me wondering is he embarrassed to know me. Any respect and trust is now gone. Its just a kick in the guts.

Good in you. I’m glad that you are seeing this situation for what it is. It’s a shame on them for being a dishonest and an untrustworthy person. No one needs that kind of thing in their lives. Having healthy, trusting relationships is not too much to ask. It’s really quite a basic thing. Let them take there toxic drama elsewhere
