Lost...

So I've been with my husband for 18 years now and I have 3 kids. I have struggled with mental health since I had my kids and had been on meds for 15 years. I went off them this year as I wanted to feel more like myself. However I have been struggling in ny marriage for the last 2 years with wanting to leave as I want more and want my values back. I have since decided with the help of a pd course that I can get my values back without losing my marriage. But now I'm In a state of unhappiness and purposelessness.

I don't know what I am doing here in life , what is the point .....

Re: Lost...

Hey @Struggling101,

That is a tough space you're in 💔.

Sometimes our sense of self can take a hit when we have a family. Family can bring a lot of joy, but they can also be a lot of work, stress and time takers. Intimate relationships are tricky too and sometimes it can be a long process to either repair or to leave. I hope that you can find some of yourself again and you can find some support on the forums here. We also offer a guided service which may be helpful in working with you on some strategies to reintegrate your values? I have attached the link at the bottom.

I am on the forums tonight, if you want to chat. I would love to hear more about some of your goals around values and self.

Re: Lost...

Hi @Struggling101,

It sounds like you have a lot going on in your life and a lot to think about. It's great that you have reached out and shared your story - hopefully through sharing and reading what others post will help you untangle your thoughts a bit because this is a lot to sit with alone.

I am wondering if you have a professional to speak to about how you are feeling (such as a counsellor or a psychologist)? I think it would be good for you to talk about your own feelings and thoughts, and also your feelings and thoughts about your marriage. It's great that you have done a PD course - I would imagine that this would have been beneficial for you and your own growth but I wondering how helpful it may or may not have been around the dynamic of your marriage?

I think marriage is so layered and so unique to every couple that whilst working on yourself is great there are two people accountable in a marriage and two people that are responsible for its health and growth. Do you feel comfortable to discuss your feelings with your husband?

Wishing you all the best,

FloatingFeather

Re: Lost...

I have spoken to several counciĺors and I am now in he process of going back to do yet another mental health plan which never seems to get me anywhere. My husband doesn't understand what's happening or know what to do. I find it hard to explain what's going on as I have no idea why I feel the way I do and what to do..

Re: Lost...

Hey @Struggling101

That sounds like a really difficult thing to go through. Sometimes I feel like no one around me understands what I am going through too, and it can be really isolating. So i completely get that. Does your partner try and listen to you when you are explaining how you are feeling? I think its great that you are seeking help from counsellors. Going on a mental health plan was a really helpful thing for me, once you find the one that works the best for you.

Sitting with you,
