Community services in Perth
Hello, my first post is asking advice on community services for my friend who has had her children taken off her and put into foster care. It was supposed to be for 2 years but now they're talking about making it permanent. She is fighting to get them back. I'll call her Tina.
Tina has had a hard life. Her mother abandoned her very young and she was raised by her father who did his best. She never learnt skills like keeping her house tidy. Shes been in several abusive relationships. I actually met her in a shelter when we were escaping domestic abuse. She has abused substances in the past (pot and meth) but not anymore. I'm not sure if she has been diagnosed with any mental illness but I'm sure she suffers depression.
Apparently the reason why they are considering permanent foster care is because of the state of her house. She has jumped through all the hoops they assigned for her otherwise.
I truly believe that what Tina needs is for someone to come and not only clean her house but to show her how it's done, how to manage it and check in on her from time to time. She just needs help and instructions. It's just not fair to discriminate against her for skills she never got to learn because of her life experience.
I know she loves her children and will never stop fighting for them, and I also believe that it would be in their best interests to be with their mother, not a foster carer.
Are there ANY community services out there that can help her? All I can find are services for the disabled or elderly. If anyone can help I would really appreciate it. Thanks.
