Struggling

Struggling

TW: Mentions suicide

I attempted suicide nearly 2 months ago. I have struggled with my mental health for 20 years (36 now) and have been diagnosed with depression, anxiety, autism spectrum disorder and ADHD. I am only working part time because of my depression right now and I'm also trying to complete my dissertation, and I'm struggling with a gambling problem.

Today Ive felt pretty low and had such bad anxiety my legs were shaking. Ive mindfulness and lying under my weighted blanked as well as anxiety medication but I can't calm myself.

Both my psychiatrist and psychologist (private) are on leave right now. I don't know what to do. I find talking to my family about suicide really really hard.

Hi @Coco2022

Welcome to the forums, it takes a lot of courage to reach out for help. You've taken a good step in protecting yourself and seeking support.

You are sitting with some really emotional stuff there and I am hearing how helpless and alone you feel.

I want to share with you this suicide prevention resource

It talks about Safe Haven cafes and there are some online support groups as well.

There are also the crisis numbers that you can call if you feel you're unsafe.

If you’re open to a 1-on-1 chat with a counsellor the SANE help centre is open from 10am-10pm Mon-Fri and the number is: 1800 187 263. All our counsellors are trained to provide a non-judgemental and confidential session with the opportunity to explore your challenges and provide strategies for longer-term help.

It's definitely hard to talk to our loved ones about suicide but I'm wondering if there is anyone you can call to talk to? It could be a neighbour or anyone you trust. Or one of the helpline numbers listed in the link above.

I hope the resource I gave the link to will help you. I'll also tag some of our lovely members who can offer support and kindness.

@Zoe7 @Dallas @Aniela @Powderfinger @Gazza75 @Daisy15 @Appleblossom @Eve7
@Smiling_Gecko @Mortiis

We are here to listen and you are not alone. Please check in with us and let us know you're ok. I'll also send you an email.

Take care and stay safe

Re: Struggling

Hi
Hugs, anxiety is the pits , When i am in anxiety mode, I find trying to take my mind off of the anxiety like going and having a shower playing a game talking to a friend about anything . Please try and remember that no one emotion lasts forever , eventually this emnotion will pass and hopefully the next wont be so debilitating.

Hi @Coco2022

My apologies, I missed that in your original post. I sent you an email too. Did you check the link with the resources?

Re: Struggling

Hello @Coco2022 and welcome to the forum. There are several friendly people here willing to support and share their own lived experience.

Its hard when our supports are away. My psychiatrist was recently away for two months and I really struggled during that time.

I hope you can get some online support in the meantime. Please stay safe as you are very important.
