Re: Dealing with unreliable boyfriend

Hi @Bridgetjones

I believe you have every right to be indignant at being treated with such disrespect of your feelings and welfare. And these feelings of anger is not such a bad thing if it propels you into action to protect your own self esteem by sending a clear message to the other person that you won't tolerate being treated so by not giving him the time of day.

Anger is only unhealthy if it is turned inwards towards self resulting in low worth and depression. Also if it develops into negative rage and revenge.

To avoid that type of destructive rage I would see this as a sign that this relationship is not good for me and that I am better off alone with dignity rather than being with someone who strips me of it. Better to be alone than being with someone who lowers my self esteem making me feel more depressed than I would be alone with my self respect intact.

You deserve better - always tell yourself that. Hugs xx

Thanks @Former-Member. Great advice. Its been the same pattern with him the whole time so its time to never go there again. Better to be alone than with him. Gotta have hope that theres a nice dependable guy out there for me !! 😞

Re: Dealing with unreliable boyfriend

Hello I'm new to SANE but can relate to your story. I've had a male friend for 8 years and recently I've been getting tired of the friendship being 'mostly ' about him and confided in him about some insecurities. Shortly after he told me 'I'm too much hard work' and has refused to reply to txt messages or phone calls. I feel terribly lonely and alone. The 64 million dollar question is how to pick myself up and get my life back together without any real friends for support.

Re: Dealing with unreliable boyfriend

I think you should limit your contact with this person and find some new friends.

If you are feeling lonely thinking about starting some new hobbies or reconnecting to old hobbies if that is what makes you happy.

You could join a gym

Volunteer work

You might want to set yourself some goals to give yourself some direction too @Isla

I hope this helps and you always come back here to find some support and friendship too.

Re: Dealing with unreliable boyfriend

Thanks for responding @Isla. I need to rely on myself more and stop expecting anything from my damaged ex. He lives a chaotic life and is barely keeping his head above water so isnt a person that can give me anything during my tough times.

Thinking of you @Bridgetjones 💕
Sorry I don't have an answer just now. Have had a very emotionally draining weekend, but wanted to say, hi and send you a hug.

Anger is a normal emotion, not necessarily a nice feeling, but we need to figure out a way of working through it. Maybe writing down your feelings??? Crying can help release it.

I struggle with inner anger, from lifes hurts, usually from people.

Sorry too tired to think now.

Nighty night 😴💜
