Advice

I’m desperate for some advice. I feel like I’ve made it all up. This time is so different. Is it possible to unconsciously make up feeling suicidal even though the intent is stronger than it has ever been. But I haven’t cried. Even while sitting in the ED, not one tear was shed and I still haven’t. I’m so confused

Re: Advice

Hi @caseofthemorbs ,

Welcome to the forums. Sounds like there's so much happening for you right now.

As for your post, I'm not sure crying is a direct symptom of suicidal thoughts. I don't remember a single time suicidal ideation has brought on tears for me.

I hope things get better for you soon.

Hi @caseofthemorbs

I hope you’re safe. Do you have support around you? I don’t know what to say or give you advice but I wanted to let you know that I’ve read your post and hope you’re ok. I find suicidal thoughts so hard and ED is a scary place when life is already hard, so I understand that.

Take good care of yourself and I hope you’ll find someone who can help you x

Re: Advice

We are complex machines. I think what you're describing is a sense of stoicism "the feeling of not feeling". It can be an eerie sensation, it suggests to me that maybe a part of your emotional mechanisms is giving itself a bit of a break. Re-booting in a sort of way. Maybe I'm projecting but that's the sense I'm getting.

Either way, it's good that you're noticing and taking stock. I'm curious how your mood translated in the ER experience. Also, hope you've got some safety management in play while you're working this out. My general advice is count all the big, medium and little things that give you gratitude. I say live for all the things you want to live for. Even the ones you haven't thought of yet. All of them.

Re: Advice

Hi and welcome, @caseofthemorbs ...I'm sorry you're feeling confused and suicidal.

I don't think it's possible to make up suicidal feelings, myself...and who would want to go through that if they could avoid it? I am sorry you're going through this.

Like @petrichor said, do you have support around you? Like a trusted GP, psychologist or psychiatrist, or meds?

A handy forum tip is if you type @ and then click on a name in the drop-down box, that person will get a notification and won't miss your reply to them.

i hope you find the forums supportive.

Re: Advice

Hello dear @caseofthemorbs

Previously in my life I have been so ill that I didn't cry, I was so suicidal that I hardly changed my expression and hardly felt anything.

I don't believe you have made anything up. I believe you are stressed and being very hard on yourself. Mental illness is strange and manifests strangely and differently in every person.

I hope you get appropriate help and make a full recovery very soon. ❤

Re: Advice

Thank you for your reply, that does make me feel less alone. I guess it’s just not normal for me, like it’s an escalation of what I’ve experienced before

Re: Advice

Thank you. I was pretty numb in ED, which is different to the way I’ve been every other time this has happened
