Check in update struggling

Check in update struggling

Hi everyone.
I am really struggling right now. Things just seem to keep going On and on and on and there is just no let up. Covid never seems to go away and all the stress with that. Now we have had major flooding here in Qld. While my house didn’t flood we had water through our garage, partially collapsed retaining wall and stranded in our complex for a day. I know that is way less than others have experienced and I really really feel for them. And I was struggling but handling it. But now to top everything off our power is out and been out for over a day with potentially another two days before it is reconnected. I feel like it is the straw that broke the camel’s back and I just can’t do it any more. I feel like nothing is ever going to go right. I feel absolutely bummed. 😞😞

I am sorry to know that you are struggling so much @Lilly6 and I agree it’s been a rough couple of years for us all. I’m in Qld too and am feeling overwhelmed by the devastation.

Can we try and do just one nice thing for ourselves today? I’m having a long hot shower and cooking some scones. Do you want to join me for a cuppa?

Re: Check in update struggling

It’s certainly been a rough couple of years eh @Lilly6 and it can be something so small that just breaks up in the end. I’m really sorry that things are difficult for you and being isolated and without essential services is rough.

self care can be really important in times like this and even though it’s probably the last thing you feel like doing, it may just be enough to get you through the next couple of hours.

A scone and a cuppa sounds nice @Eve7 i made date loaf in the thermomix earlier in the week. Warmed up with some butter is perfect 🙂

be kind to yourselves today 💕

I'm in Queensland too. The flooding, the situation with Ukraine/ Russia & the fact that everyone is seemingly in " culture wars", it's all getting me down. It feels as though there's no neutral ground anymore. People get cancelled just for sharing how they feel about something that effects them. Honesty I feel like society is collapsing. Sounds dramatic but that is how it feels to me.

@Lilly6 @Lila3 @Bow @Eve7 Thanks for sharing. It's a helpful reminder that I'm not alone with the ole' crisis fatigue.

I've been trying to give myself a breaks from internet and touching the (wet) grass from time to time.

Also been trying to focus on positive things. I recently found out about this in a youtube add. There's a smaller political party (called the citizens party. Don't know much about them but like their idea) promoting a drain tunnel traveling under the great dividing range. It would reduce drought and flood at the same time (and you might as well whack a hydro-power station in there while you're down there). They reckon such a tunnel would cost about $15 bill, but I reckon it would pay for itself with all the increased productivity, reduced insurance premiums and so on.

I mention it, because people talking about win-win-win stuff like this gives me hope.

As far as culture war go @Lila3 I feel a lot of us are more and willing to get ourselves to the "culture peace negotiation table".

I do like the idea of the "culture wars peace negotiation table". We could share wonderful literature, poetry, insipred films & funny memes! We could pass around Tim Tams & hot pots of tea & coffee! ☕

Hey @Lilly6 and @Lila3 ,

Sounds so tough. I'm sorry to hear how difficult the situation is... from pandemic to floods.

For now, what are things you can do within your control? Even small things, to help you through in the moment?

My prayers are with you all.

Thinking of you and all those affected by floods,

tyme
