Re: Why are we all so dissatisfied all the time
You have a lot that's going on at the moment. A 2 year old - I remember - pure exhaustion.
A job you need but not a job you enjoy. Add in a recent marriage and buying a house - that's a lot of stress.
It would be good to show your psychologist this post - so they can understand all the worries you carry on your shoulders.
Recently my depression and anxiety have decreased and I'm feeling a lot better. Happy? I have moments of happiness. They are fleeting. What I do have is a strong feeling of contentment.
I'm rediscovering who I am. I'm starting to do things I used to enjoy doing. But I've managed this with the help of my psychologist and medication. I don't think I could have got to this point on my own.
So who do you see for your mental health? Let them know how your feeling. I'm sure they will be able to help you feel more like you - & less exhausted.
I wish you well.

@Princessmolly Given what you have posted about your childhood and parents, I think you deserve a substantial PAT on the back.
When we havent had a happy secure enuff period during childhood, then we dont have an automatic restful tranquil psychic place to drop back into..and we dont have the million skills of being a parent in easy memory. We have to learn them from scratch .. and its a HUGE learning curve.
It is great that you have a reasonable job and home and family of creation.
It is natural to anticipate some of the issues our children will face in their lives .. we just have to manage it ... as we will never forsee their actual future and nobody can protect their child from everything .. some of it is natural and healthy imagining.
I went through some of the war stuff .. with my son .. and we processed it gradually ...he was in Airforce cadets .. and he developed his attitudes about politics and war and could talk to me .. and more and more I felt he would cope ... we try and build resilience into our kids ... you have HEAPS to have survived ...
trying to be a perfect parent doesnt help .. then you rob the child of doing its own learning and growing.
Being an exhausted mother of a 2 year old boy is soooooooooooooo normal.
Take care
