Dear Forumites - Onwards I Go

Dear Forumites

For some time now I have turned to this forum for support in dark moments. In moments where I felt that there was no hope and that my mental health was taking its toll on me. This much is still true and I think those moments were hard. Sharing them however, in amongst a community of people with the same experiences taught me a lot. It was tremendously helpful for me to find this forum supportive.

Well today I have a few good pieces of news to share.

Today I was formally offered a new job. This is with the same organisation i interviewed for back earlier in the year. They kept my details. They rang me again and then I interviewed again. I have been offered this job. The reason I feel good about it is quite simple - it's something I could see myself doing. It isn't just "a job" but it is a "my job". I think this is a big difference. I wish I got it sooner, but I realised that this was motivated by my attitude towards my old colleagues just gone. As much as I would like to say to them all "That I have a new job now" it would be motivated by ill intent. This would be wrong. I don't see why I need to boast to people with whom I had no interest in keeping in touch with. I have grown from this.

Yesterday I told my psychiatrist where I had been and what I had been up to - I had not seen him since March. I explained to him that I had a whole job between seeing him last time and yesterday.
He told me that I had come a long way since seeing him first. And for once this actually felt like it wasa true thing.

I guess I just wanted to say thanks to the forumites who have supported me.

Onwards I go

Congratulations on receiving and accepting the job offer, and Best Wishes for the future, both in your employment and personal areas of life.

You have not said whether you will be keeping in contact with the community here, or intend "testing the water" independently to see how it goes. Either way, very pleased to hear of the job offer, which will allow you a greater degree of independence. Recommend that you be cautious about what you change initially. Suggest taking the steps slow and steady in order to ease yourself into the new space. Doing so is likely to ease the stress of your new regime. Even taking on a new job can be a stressful undertaking.
