Something’s not right

In a really difficult spot.

In a really difficult spot.

I missed work last night.

I had a really bad urge to self-harm that whole night, and last night, I decided I was going to do it, just before work.

I put three alarms on, but I slept in, and by the time I woke up, it was like three minutes before I had to go. My Mum asked me why I wasn't at work. I lied, and said I started at 3:00AM. So, I put my do-not-disturb on, and put up another alarm for 2:30AM. My supervisor called me in that time, but I didn't answer. I decided that I was going to self-harm then.

Honestly, I don't remember what happened after that, but I ended up not self-harming at all. It would have been really hard, if I had to go to hospital, to get myself organised without anyone noticing what had happened.

Our house is pretty busy at night, so there were three people at home; my sister, my brother and my Dad and any one of them could have walked in on me. My brother is literally nocturnal, he's up all night watching movies or doing work, and then he sleeps until 1:00PM the next day.

My manager messaged me this morning, probably asking me where I was, but I am honestly terrified to open it. I don't want to think about work. I am probably going to be in a lot of trouble when and if I work on Thursday night. They've been so busy. I should be doing hours of overtime, but instead I'm missing entire days.

I am still getting really bad urges, and I have felt horrible all day. I made an appointment with my doctor for two weeks, and that is probably going to be really helpful... I am just really tired in the meantime, though.

Hey @Former-Member ,

I'm glad to hear you were able to sit with the urges, and even if you don't quite know how it happened, you still managed to make it through!

Two weeks can feel like a long time to wait for your doc appointment, but we will be here with you every step. I hear you that work is stressful and you're feeling exhausted... I hope you're able to give yourself permission to rest and have a break

Re: In a really difficult spot.

Hi @Former-Member just wondering if you could get an emergency appointment with your GP? Two weeks is a long time to wait when you are really struggling. Could you reach out to a helpline to talk or text if you think family may hear you, talking things through may help. Not surprised you don't feel like going into work when you are struggling. Please do some self care and treat yourself to something nice 💜🌻

Re: In a really difficult spot.

Thank you @bipolarbunny.

I just wanted to tag the other people that responded to my call for help yesterday.

@Former-Member

@Jynx

@Oaktree .

Unfortunately, I have hurt myself since I wrote that. I am safe. Thankfully (in a way), it wasn't bad enough to warrant hospital treatment, and it's nothing that's going to have any long-term implications.

It feels absurd to read all the comments encouraging me to seek help and avoid harming myself, and harm myself anyway. I feel horrible. I'm really sorry. I know it's a habit and it's not going to be perfect, but yeah.

I want to thank you for your support, anyway.

In general, I'm doing better today.

@Former-Member I am sorry you are struggling so much. Is it possible for you to go to the ER and speak with someone? I'm so sorry I have no experience with self harm, but I am worried for you.
When you get these urges is it possible for you to try something different, form a safer habit, maybe write down everything you feel, everything that's troubling you, to get these emotions out, rather than hurting yourself?
I worry as 2 weeks is a long time to wait to see your GP when you are in so much pain.
