Something’s not right

Yeah... it's BAD.

Yeah... it's BAD.

Last time I spoke to you guys, I had asked to get a transfer from work, and I got an interview with another store nearby.. unfortunately, I didn't get a call back. I may still get a call, or more interviews. A nearby store literally put an ad up on Seek saying they were hiring.
In the meantime, though, I have to go to work.. as in, tonight. Tonight is my first shift since I asked to get traded. Just the thought of coming in makes me so anxious that I am going physically numb. I really don't know how I am going to survive.
To be honest, working at all sounds really exhausting to me right now. I need a long time off. Like, a few weeks. From memory, I have got a lot of annual leave.
However, my family doesn't know that I have Depression, and they don't know about my break-up, so it would be weird to all of a sudden say that I need many weeks off. It wouldn't make sense.. so I need a good excuse.
In January 2019, the manager at the time told me that my leave had been accumulating for too long, and I needed to take a big chunk of it all at once.. so I took basically a month off. I don't know what that was about, but maybe I could tell my family that I actually NEED to take leave, so I don't have too much?
I feel like if I go there, I am going to faint anyway, so maybe I can get a medical certificate for tonight? Twice this week, my manager gave me paid time off through annual leave and I told my family that it was too quiet, and they didn't need people. I feel like if I do that again, though, I am pushing it.
I have gotten to a stage in my life where there's nothing I can really do except try not to die. I need to put a long pause on things. As I mentioned though, I don't know how I can do that and explain it to my family.

Hey @Former-Member, I'm sorry to hear you're not going well right now. 💐

I think, given the distress you're experiencing, it's perfectly reasonable to request a medical certificate for tonight. Unless you have any strategies, helplines etc. you think might help you go into work tonight?

In terms of having a long break from work and thinking of something to tell your family- the fact you said that you think you have a lot of leave built up suggests to me that you've been working for quite some time and may not have had a substantial break in a while? If so, a perfectly valid reason to tell people is simply that you need a holiday/time off! It's very human for anyone to need time away from work.

Keep us in the loop with how you're travelling

And as always, if you get to the point of not feeling safe, please reach out to a crisis service like Lifeline or the Suicide Callback Service

"I have gotten to a stage in my life where there's nothing I can really do except try not to die." @Former-Member Hi Florenceforty we havent spoken but I read most of your posts and your words often ring true to me. I however would love to die and sleep the long sleep. If it wasnt for my son2 I would have taken actions to hasten the inevitable. In any event just wanted to say hi and wish you well my friend. Love peaxx
