Mild Schitzophrenia (hearing voices)

Mild Schitzophrenia (hearing voices)

G'day How ya doing? I wasn't born with my mental health issue - infact mine was stressed induced.

I was diaganosed back in 1999, after a an encounter where I got really angry, and ended up hitting my father, after losing my job and I returned home. Forced away from our rural property I ended up in physc ward, and the first thing they did was throw me into a padded sell. I was told I wouldn't be let out until I took my meds, which I did and I then got processed. Eventually privelaages were given to me and i got so wel they let me leave the premisses under a curfew. Time goes on and I go back home. The medication stop me from peaking really happy to really sad, and I did really well. The medication I was on had a side effect of always making me feel hungry so I piled on the weight. I change medication, and it was much better. Before I go on I want (You) the reader to know the difference between Mild Schitzophrenia, and Paranoid Schitzophrenia. Mild Schitzophrenia, you hear voices in you head but don't actually do what they say, Where as Paranoid Schitzophrenia, usually act out on the voices, and are the ones you hear about on the news (ie stabbing, and other cruel things)

Not giving you my whole life story but, I've endured the death of my twin sisters who drowned together, when washed out to sea bu a freak wave, when they were 23 - I was 19 when that happend. I had to deal with the death of my mother, as well as a near death experience, As well as dealing with suicides of people I've known. I'm a person who loves a routine, I have hobbies, I socialize with my friends and still great mates with my dad ever since I moved out, and found out lets for my anger.

Life could be better but could also be alot worse. If there's something that I can tell (You) the reader, It's "Remeber no matter how low or bad you are feeling, There's always someone somewhere with a lot more horrible life than yours" I could go for ages but I'll stop here.

Great to meet you, and thanks for reading

I forgot to point out in the above post that not all Paranoid Schitzophrenics are violent, I was just trying point out the violent ones were the ones you heard about in the news.

Hi @3Spuds

It would have been amazingly hard to deal with a double whammy death of your sisters. With only a freak wave to blame. Suicide of people we care about is one of the toughest forms of grief. It is good you are not lead astray by your voices and can manage some quality of life.

I used to spend a lot of time on deserted beaches (that why I have this pic) and my partner gave me binoculars to keep watch for sharks and freak waves ... I was his insurance policy. Never Mind

I am glad you posted your story and can share many insights. I am extra glad you clarified the issue about violence. I am pretty disappointed in a lot of media reporting about mental illness and try and tease out the difference between genuine legitimate necessary anger and violence.

Welcome to the forums.

G'day Apple Um yeh it took me a good ten years to recover from my sisters death - when the service was on I was so upset I refused to go. I was really tight with my twins sisters as I wasn't realy as close to my older sister - I was the only boy and youngest in the family.

Occasionally I get a little teary when I mention them from time to time. Mums death has sort of taking the memory and put it behind - but both my sisters and mum died around Christmas so Christmas has lost it's appeal to me, and usually can't wait until it's over.
